  • T-Shirt Design: No Evil
  • Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop
  • 11in by 17in
  • Fall 2011, Revised: 2/24/2013
I have always wanted to do t-shirt design because there is almost no bounds. This project was very enjoyable because it allowed me to draw my design, but it was also frustrating because it took hours in the computer to the grungy, rusty look and then somehow I deleted my files and had to start over. This is the revised version, with a tag, because I ran out of time to make one. I also placed my design on a black t-shirt template instead of the white because it pops more.
  • Editorial: Retirement is in The Grave

  • Fall 2011
In Illustrator, during the fall of 2011, one of our projects was an editorial based on a current event or a subject the designer felt strongly about. Our source of inspiration was Brian Stauffer, a professional Illustrator who is known for his visually and emotionally impactive editorials. This project was to help us learn how to take written information and convey it visually with the use of Adobe Illustrator software integrated with textures. My concept is based on the raise in the retirement age and that by the time my generation gets to this anticipated time we maybe spending it in our graves. I used the pen tool to trace my drawing, of the hard working skeleton and to bring in my textures. The textures were scanned in an added to the pattern swatches and made as the fill color.
  • Personal Logo
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Spring 2012
I completed this design in Graphic Design 2 in the spring of 2012 and then revised it a month later. This is the finished product, however it still needs adjustments. I drew up about 20 thumbnails for this project until I finally decided on this concept and created the final design in Adobe Illustrator using the pen tool and1 Pantone color . I wanted something bold, unique and of with my initials; Hence ACT Designs.

American Business

Artist: Demosthenes N. V.
Title: American Business
Dimensions: 1'6" wide x 10' tall
Media: found objects, suitcase and vintage American flag

Artist Statement: The main idea of this piece is all about the important people running our country are concerned with the business side of this country rather than the people. The suitcase is representing the business man tossing away the constitution of our country and the flag represents those ideals. This representation of American business is meant to show how corporations are over throwing our already deceitful government. Our constitution has become an opinion; with enough money any man sporting a brief case can just discard our values and constitutional rights for his own personal gain. The message is not just aimed at business men, but lawyers, congressmen, judges, etc. who are seeking out the loop holes for the companies to control without question. Not only are they responsible for causing corruption in our system. But we the people can do nothing to stop it. Most don’t care, and the few that do have no power over such monopolies. We the people are living in a business full of lies…I don’t see a great and power country I see a business wanting more and more while the people get less and less…

This is a drawing I did a couple years ago of Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day. I had some issues doing the hair because the original photo has a black background and I couldn't differentiate them very well, but overall I am happy with it.

I did this in Life Drawing last spring when I was experimenting with colored paper, and I think this is my most successful drawing from the class. The blue acts as a neutral tone with the black and white charcoal.

Respect Your Mother

This is a type design poster that I created in November 2011 for Graphic Design I titled Respect Your Mother. Nature and the environment are very important to me so I wanted to create a poster that promoted a Earth Day celebration. I created the vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator and laid out the overall design, including clipping masks, in Adobe InDesign. The poster was printed at 12" by 18".

Nature's 3 R's

This is a Graphic Information Poster titled Nature's 3 R's that I created for Graphic Design Illustration class in September 2011. Nature and the environment are very important to me so I wanted to create a poster that communicated simple things that most everyone could do to help the environment. I created the vector graphics and layout design in Adobe Illustrator and it was printed at 11" by 14".

Tarot Inspired Playing Cards

This is a set of Tarot inspired playing cards that I designed for Graphic Design I in December 2012. I knew that you can do a Tarot card reading with a traditional deck of playing cards so for my design I wanted to create a traditional deck that would also double as a Tarot deck. I used Adobe Illustrator to create the vector artwork and placed the vectors in InDesign to lay out the overall card design. Each card was printed at approximately 3.75" by 5.25".
