Texture Paintings

Title: 3D Beach
Size: 11'x20'
Media: live shells, acrylic on canvas, stones, sand

I went to California on Spring break with my husband and was watching the waves come down and I got this idea to do this painting. I was raised in California so this is just a little slice of home for me. It was a painting to keep me centered.

Title: 5 Second Victory
Size: 20'x16'
Media: acrylic on canvas

I was in my painting class with extra paint and I decided to play with it. I blocked in some areas and sprayed it with a bottle and this is what it came out like.

Title: Dancing Figure
Size: 16'x20'
Media: Acrylic on canvas

I was playing with different ideas and textures and this is what I came up with.

                                                                Title: Oceanside Pier
                                                                Media: Acrylic on canvas
                                                                 Size:  24'x18'
The Oceanside Pier is done all in acrylic paint. The 3D look to it is actually paint, just many many layers of paint. It took close to a month to complete this painting because of all the layers in the painting. I was raised in California so this as a center for me.

                                                      Title: Colorful Orchard
                                                     Media: Acrylic on board
                                                       Size: 8.5'x11'
I did this painting for a raffle that was held at my show back in October of 2012. I wanted something beautiful and peaceful for it. The orchard is my favorite flower. They are beautiful and peaceful. Orchards have many different meanings. For this particular painting I wanted the flower to really pop. So I added the black background to get it an extra punch.

                                                    Title: Liberty Bell
                                                    Media: Acrylic on canvas
                                                     Size:  20'x16'
Liberty Bell was what I would like to call my happy accident painting. I did this painting with no plan but to play with pointillism.  I wanted to play with a wide range of a color pallet, yet have it all have a shape or connection. It is 100% pointillism.

Paintings

Cherry Blossom Triptych
Acrylic 3 canvases
16"x20", 18"x24", 16"x20"
Fall 2012
This painting was done in several layers of acrylic paint. The wash effect used helped me blend my colors together to get a  more unique feeling. The color and texture that was used was meant to draw your eye through the image.

 Cactus
Acrylic on canvas
8.5"x11"
Fall 2012
I was just playing around on some palette strokes and some blending techniques and I came up with the sunset background. Happy accident at its best. The cactus was done in black because I wanted it to stand out as a bold image.

Carnival Clown

Title: Carnival Clown
Media: Acrylic Paint
Size: 8 1/2x 11
Date Completed: Spring 2011

This was a project from my painting class I took with Dana Cohn. My instructor challenged me to push past my wheelhouse, which was landscape and bright colors. So, I came up with freaky looking clown.
