"Merry Black Friday" - Editorial

The above image was created in Adobe Illustrator. The assignment was to create a piece that expresses an opinion about a current issue. 

I feel that this piece can be interpreted in several ways, feel free to do so. However my intention was to convey my dislike for the way Wal-Mart's pursuit to stay out of the red by pushing Black Friday into Thanksgiving has corrupted the holiday season with greed.

    This piece has a strong message that is clearly visible. The emphasis on the Wal-mart logo is easily identified while still offering artistic flair and recognisable holiday imagery.

    I really enjoyed the visual texture of the Wal-mart logo across the entire piece. It's easily identifiable and makes a nice design element. Almost like the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree.
