This typography poster was inspired by the Rolling Stones' song Paint It, Black. I really wanted the imagery to reinforce the quote. To create the image, I scanned in a couple paint splatters and crumpled notebook paper, and combined them into one layer.
I really like how the colors create a bold rhythm that pulls your eye through the piece. I also think the scanned paper creates an interesting pattern in the background. I think the concept and the execution is great!
ReplyDeleteThe bright colors initially caught my attention. With the assignment to look for lines and rythm I was drawn to the subtlty of the lines on the paper in the background tying the piece together. If your eye wanders to the negative space the lines draw you back to the focal point. The rhythm of the colors creating movement as they drip and splatter together, they almost bounce of the black base.
ReplyDeleteI hear the song when I look at this work. Rhythm,is strong throughout this design with the contrast of color, shape, size, and the use of isolation. The work being on one side keeps the my eye on the design while the color draws me in. The text creates a beat with its contrast in size and angle. I love the splatter effect and how it seems fast at first and then drips slowly down with Black giving the eye a resting place. Great concept! It should be on a Tshirt or sticker because I would wear it.
ReplyDeleteThis piece has excellent rhythm! The colors vibrate and and the splashes of paint create movement. I love that you were inspired by this song and think the quality is very well done and shows some excellent skills!
